Nomphumelelo Dlamini was born on the 14th of September 1998. She is doing Grade four at Motshane Primary school. She lives with her grandparents and her younger brother. She is a double orphan. Her parents passed away in 2004. Her younger brother is HIV positive and currently on treatment. He also attends school at Motshane Primary School. Their granny who was the bread winner has been retrenched, so they are now struggling to make ends meet. Their granny supports them by doing domestic chores for her neighbors. This is not enough to provide food for a balanced diet for the children. They rely on food donations from the community. There are seven other people who reside with them on the homestead. Their grandfather is mentally unstable. Nomphumelelo’s dream is to finish school and proceed to university to obtain a teaching degree. She hopes to get a good job that will enable her to support her siblings and other people in the community people who face difficulties.
